Thursday, Feb. 26 the Varsity Girls bowling teams went to 1-5A state bowling championship to compete at Northrock Lanes.

The girls’ team got 10th out of 12 teams at state, defeating Shawnee-Mill Valley and Kansas City-Turner with a team score of 1980 pins.

Senior Larissa Ester didn’t feel her expectations for state were met and had a bad ending to the season.

“I was hoping we would place and have a lot more individual placers and it was a disappointing ending to the season because we bowled our worst ever team series” says Ester.

Senior Kiley White was disappointed in how state ended but happy overall about the season.

“I expected more than what we did because we performed our worst team series all year but I was just glad we made it to state, we got the far” says White.

The Wildcats never really found their groove and struggled all three games. Maddison Osenbaugh was the only medalist at state for the Wildcats who came in at 20th with a 527 series. Larissa Ester finished her high school career tied for 31st with a 495 series while Kiley White finished 43rd with a 472 series. After White came Megan Ruyle with a 463 series at 48th place. The next Lady Cat to follow was Katie Gile tied for 49th with a 457 series. After Gile came Hannah Burget at 66th with a 428 series.

“It wasn’t the ending everyone was wanting. What they did accomplish and what they did was an accomplishment. I know they wanted to place, if not win, but just getting there and what they’ve done is an accomplishment” said Coach Heath.
