It only took two 40 minute halves, two 10 minute overtimes, two 5 minute sudden death overtimes, and a penalty shot shootout for the Mulvane Women's soccer team to walk away with the 3-1 regional win vs Circle. 
The girls were exhausted but still full of celebratory energy after Sydney Brown blocked the 4th penalty shot from Circle to seal the Wildcat victory.
The score was 0 to 0 after regulation 80 minutes and remained scoreless through the extra 30 minutes of 4 overtime periods. This led to to the penalty shot shootout to decide the winner. Each team picks 5 players and alternate penalty shots. The Wildcats had the first shot and Rylee Simon put the soccer ball in the back of the net. 
Circle countered with their own goal and tied the game 1-1. Zoe Schlereth's shot was blocked and Circle's next shot went high and the score remained 1-1. Next up for Mulvane was Puritiee Soto, who also sent the ball into the back of the net. Brown blocked the next shot by Circle and the Cats were up 2-1 after three shots. Lilly Groth was up next for the Cats and she put the Wildcats up 3-1 by sneaking her shot passed the Circle goalie. The next shot sealed the 3-1 Wildcat victory as Sydney Brown made a great diving block to her right side of the goal.
The celebratory rush was on as the girls piled up in the net to celebrate the victory. The Wildcats and Thunderbirds have had each others number all year as they tied 0-0 the first meeting of the season and the cats could only get one score in the second meeting and won 1-0.
The Wildcats will travel to Hays on Thursday, May 21 to face Hays-Thomas More Prep-Marian HS\Ellis HS for the Regional round 2 game. The game time is 5:00pm.
