September 6th, 8th, and 10th the Varsity boys soccer team finished 1-2 as they opened their season at the Arkansas City tournament.

This year they are trying out a new system  similar to what  Southwestern College men's soccer program runs.

“I think as long as they continue to work hard then they are going continue to learn the system, and so i’m looking for a pretty successful season.” Said Head Coach, Jesse Myers.

The Cats dropped their first game against Independence Tuesday, 8-1.

The cats defeated host Arkansas City 2-1 for their first win of the season.

Saturday the cats lost their second game of the season to Augusta.

Out of the 5 goals made at the Tournament Sr Brevin Allen made two, Sr Joshua W. Walker made one, Jr Caleb Clark made one, and Sr. Nick Henderson also made one

Finishing 5-13 a season ago, Coach Myers feels they will beat last year’s win total.

“Our Goal is to end up around 8-7, If we could end up 8-7 that’d be pretty exciting. The best record of mulvane soccer history.”

Said coach Myers.

Last year the top scorer was Sean Benefiel who is now playing soccer at southwestern college and will create an opportunity for Brevin Allen to make a bid for the top goal scorer on this year’s team.

The captains on the team are Sr. Braxton Neptune, and Sr. Brock Cardwell.

The seniors on the team this year are Walker, Allen, Neptune, Cardwell, Henderson, Eric West, Chris North, and Dakota Thomas.

With hard work the team will have a good and successful season.
