The Wildcats hosted the Clearwater Indians this past Friday and Coach Myears second home game of the season. The Cats reached the endzone 6 times in the 42-14 route of the Indians. This is the first meeting between the Indians and Wildcats since the 2015 season.
Sophomore quarterback Tab Creekmore scored the first 2 touchdowns of the game in the 1st quarter. The first TD at the 8:34 mark with a 6 yard run. The second TD at the 2:23 mark with a 1 yard run. Junior running back Cole Diffenbaugh scampered down the right side of the field for a 22 yard TD run at the 10:12 mark of the 2nd quarter. The Wildcats would take a 28-7 lead into halftime after Creekmore found Senior Jacob Walker for a 23 yard TD pass.
The second half would be all Wildcats as well as Diffenbaugh scored his second TD of the night with a 5 yard run at the 5:46 mark of the 3rd quarter. Junior Gage Gerlach added to the score with a nice 23 yard run for a touchdown at the 1:34 mark of the 3rd quarter.
The Indians would add a late 4th quarter TD but the Wildcats defense had a solid performance allowing only 140 yard total offense with only 45 rushing yards and 95 passing yards. Senior Drew Ellis had a strong performance on the defensive side with 2 interceptions, one that he ran back for a touchdown (the TD was nullified by a penalty after the INT). The Cats defense had 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery by Junior Bryson Williams, 2 turnover on downs, and forced the Indians to punt 8 times.
The Wildcats will take on the Wichita Collegiate Spartans this Friday at 7:00 PM at Collegiate.
