Women's Soccer End Regular Season with a Win over Augusta and 11-5 Record

MHS - Women's Soccer / May 9, 2019 By Kasey McDowell

The Mulvane Women's Soccer team traveled to Augusta this past Monday (5/6/2019) to take on the Orioles in the final game of the 2018-19 regular season. The Cats had no trouble with the Orioles as they left town with a 3-1 victory. Freshman Emma Kolbe led the cats with 2 goals (4 points) followed by Sophomore Emma Anderson with 1 goal (2 pts), and Junior Kolbie McDaniel with 2 assists (2 pts). The Wildcat defense held strong and only allowed 3 shots on goal. Junior Goalie Katie Kanaga had 2 saves and allowed 1 goal.

With her 2 goals, Emma Kolbe broke the school record for goals in a season and she currently sits at 22 goals. The old record was 21 held by her cousin Kolbie McDaniel (2017-18). The 2 cousins are a strong offensive force for the Wildcats as they have combined for 39 of the team's 60 goals and 20 out of the 30 team's assists.

With this win, the Cats finished the regular season with an 11-5 record (7-2 in league play) and will begin regional play next week. The first opponent for next week has not been determined as of yet.

Update: Mulvane will face Circle in regional play next Thursday (5/16/2019) at Lyle Couch Stadium. Game will kick off at 5:00 PM.
