Coach Dale Landes and the Mulvane Track & Field team made the long drive to Chanute, KS on Friday for the 4A Regional Track Meet. The Cats face windy conditions but powered through for a great regional meet and sending several athletes to 4A State next week.

This Regional is special for Coach Dale Landes for a few reason as he recently announced his retirement from teaching and coaching and the Women's Team qualified for State as a group, the first time this has happened since 1989. This is also the best Regional in many years in terms of the number of Regional Champions as well as the number of athletes and events Mulvane is sending to the 4A State Track Meet. Dale took over the track & field team in 2006-07 and the Cross Country team in 1988-89. He has coached 3 Cross Country state championship teams and 4 state championship events in Track (Evan Landes - 1600m and 3200m, David Roberts - 3200m, and James-Sheridan-Hansen-Robers - 4x800 relay)

Junior Chase Milledge also broke the current school record in Pole Vault with his 1st place vault of 13 feet 8 inches. The old record was 13 feet 7 inches held by Kevin Sisney (1987) and Jarid Nesmith (2008).

The 4A State Track Meet will be held at Wichita State University - Cessna Stadium on May 24-25, 2019. The event schedule can be found at: http://kshsaa.org/Public/Track/PDF/StateSchedule.pdf
