The Mulvane Men's basketball team advances to the finals in their sub-state bracket; Abasolo passes 1,000 points.

It's that time of the year where the regular season is over and the teams are fighting for a chance to make it to Salina for the 4A State Tournament. The Wildcats are in the Sub-State #1 bracket with Augusta, El Dorado, and Wamego and the #8 seed Wildcats took on the #9 seed Wamego Red Raiders on Wednesday, March 4th at Mulvane High School.

The Wildcats jumped on top of the Red Raiders with a 19-10 first quarter and increased the lead to 12 with a 14-11 second quarter and went into halftime up 33-22. The Cats and Red Raiders had an even 14-14 third quarter and the Cats were able to add to the lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Raiders 17-8 for a 64-43 victory.

Trey Abasolo led the Wildcats with 27 points and also in rebounds with 10 boards, earning his 7th double-double of the season. Michael Manis dropped in 15 points on the evening and Mason Ellis and Ian Comer both finished with 9 points each. Gage Gerlach and Kiser Jansen both finished with 2 points each.

With Trey's 27 points, he passed over the 1,000 career points total and currently sits at 1024 points in his career.

The Wildcats will travel to Augusta this coming Saturday for a rematch with the Orioles, which is who the Wildcats faced in the first game of this season.
