First year Head Coach, Mike Abasolo is looking forward to a great basketball season, but is focused on changing a culture and atmosphere that will be a building block for success for years to come.

With only two returning Varsity lettermen from a season ago, Jr. Dalton Blaine and So. Jayden Price, there will be plenty of room for opportunity within this year’s program.

“It’s great to be back on the court with all the guys again for what I think will be a really good season.” said Price. “The first thing you recognize with this group of players is how we have a mix of exactly all the right players,” said Abasolo, The coaching staff loves being with them on a daily basis and they like being around each other even more.” Abasolo is focusing on commitment to develop his recipe for a successful culture. And the first ingredient has been the perfect mix of players.
“When you have a roster of players who want to be on this team and work hard to earn their spot, it makes the coaching part much more enjoyable and almost easier.” Said Abasolo.

Juniors, Chase Myears Zach Helbing, and lone senior, Josiah Duncan will look to be an early core Abasolo relies on.  A bright spot for the Wildcats this season has been the emergence of new comer, Sophomore big man, Kennison White. In his first season on the court, White has shown a tremendous amount of potential to the coaching staff and they are excited to see how high his ceiling can be.

“Kenny is a great example for being the right kind of player for us at the right time.” Said Abasolo.

With excitement building around the program and in the locker room, the only thing left will be for this team to take the court and be tested on game night.

The Cats tip off their season in Circle on Monday, December 7 at the T-Bird Classic.
