The Mulvane Wildcat Wrestlers participated in the 4A Regional Tournament this past Friday (2/15/19) and Saturday (2/16/19) at Pratt High School. As a team, Mulvane posted 78 points and finished in 8th place out of 15 with Pratt bringing in the 1st place trophy with 187.5 points.
As individuals, Senior Kyle Smith and Sophomore Chadwick Stahl both wrestled their way into the state tournament. 
Smith (33-6), wrestling in the 285 lb class, received a bye in the first round, then pinned his opponent Alex Koehn (Hesston) in the quarterfinal. Kyle then lost by fall from Conner Snell (Clearwater) in the Semifinal. Now on the left side of the bracket, Smith was able to pin his opponent Gabriel Bowers (Scott Community) to get into the 3rd place match. Stahl (34-3), wrestling in the 120 lb class, also received a bye in the first round. In the quarterfinal, Chadwick won by fall over Dakota Demo (Circle). In the semifinal, Stahl won by decision over Jonathan Lara (Ulysses) with a 3-2 score. The 1st place match went to the final buzzer and Chadwick won by decision over Hector Sarratos (Andale) with an 11-7 final score. Click here to view the 120 lb KSHSAA 4A Regional bracket.
Chadwick is no stranger to State as he was regional runner up in the 2017-18 season as a freshman. Stahl finished state with a 2-2 record and finished just out of 5th place.

The 4A State Tournament will be held in Salina at the Tony's Pizza Events Center on February 22nd and 23rd. Chadwick's first match will be against William Gomez from El Dorado. Kyle's first match will be against Qualin Powell from Chanute.
