7th girls sweep the Indians at Clearwater, 8th grade splits.

The Mulvane Middle School girls basketball traveled to Clearwater yesterday for a league match up with the Indians. The 7th girls swept both games 32-29 and 28-17 and the 8th girls split 25-30 and 16-9.

"We shot the ball much better in the A game than we have all season. Jade Smallwood made a huge impact in the second quarter scoring 5 points and bringing a spark with her defensive pressure" said Coach Hansen. Olivia led the team in scoring with 11 points. Madi scored 9 points and led the team with 6 rebounds. Jade Smallwood finished with 5 points, Lexi Cunningham finished with 4 points, and Rylee Dieker finished with 3 points.

"Makenna Treat continues to lead our B girls on both ends of the floor. She led the team with 12 points. Treat’s ability to anticipate and jump passes allowed us several opportunities to score easy transition points" said Coach Hansen. Kali Hale led the team with 5 rebounds and scored her first 2 points of the season. Jade Smallwood finished with 6 points and Makaylen Warner, Brodee Ferry, Laiken Hladik, and Izzy Loveless all finished with 2 points.

The 8th grade girls A-team lost 25-30 in a close game with the Indians. The Cats had trouble shutting down Elizabeth Tjaden who has been scoring the vast majority of the Indians points this season. Madison Shaw had a great game and lead the Wildcats with 15 points and Teagan Garrison finished the game with 8 points. Ashley Young added a bucket for 2 points as well.

The 8th grade girls B-Team continues to shred their opponents and are now 5-0 on the season and have outscored their opponents 156-25 so far this season. More of a defensive battle this time, the Cats were victorious over the Indians 16-9. Justice Blake and Madison Phipps lead the Wildcats with 6 and 4 points while Elizabeth Blankenship, Kasey Dillon, and Katelynn Murray all finished with 2 points.

The Wildcats will travel to Rose Hill this Thursday to take on the Rockets in a Patriot League matchup.
