Former Mulvane multi-sport athlete Rylee Simon has completed her college soccer career at Southwestern University as the Moundbuilders finished their season early in November and finished with a 9-7-2 record and a 4-6-2 KCAC record.

Rylee was a multi-sport 4 year athlete for Mulvane from 2012-13 to 2015-16 in women's basketball, women's soccer, and cheerleading. She earned All League 1st team in soccer her sophomore and junior year at Mulvane and 2nd team all league her senior year.

After graduating from Mulvane in 2016, she signed with Southwestern and has played in every game from her freshman year to her senior year (71 games). Her freshman year she scored 3 goals and had 2 assists for 8 points. Her sophomore year she scored 1 goal and 0 assists for 2 points. Her junior year she scored 5 goals and had 1 assist for 11 points. Her senior year she scored 8 goals and had 1 assist for 17 points. Her career stats are 17 goals and 4 assists for 38 points.

In Rylee's junior year, she was on the leadership team and then she was voted a team captain her senior year. Her senior year she was a scholar athlete and received the KCAC Champion of Character Award.

The transition from high school to college forced Rylee to change some of her style. "In high school I relied on speed and being physical to be successful but for college I had to develop and work on other skills to achieve the things I wanted to. I had to work on timing and anticipating the play, having more controlled touches, and just learning to play at a faster pace" said Simon.

Through hard work and dedication, Rylee developed her game and had a successful college career. "Physically and mentally it was challenging and I found myself accomplishing things I use to think I couldn't. Playing soccer in college has definitely shaped me into the person I am now and I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity that I had and people I met" said Rylee.

Rylee is majoring in marine biology with a minor in psychology. She will graduate in May and she is looking to attend graduate school and is still in the process of applying to a some grad schools. She enjoys scuba diving and is very passionate about the ocean and marine life and her favorite fish are "sharks...100%" she said.
