The Girls Basketball team resumed action on Tuesday and came home with a win and a loss from Halstead.

The Mulvane Girls basketball traveled to Halstead on Tuesday for the opening games of the 2020 year after the Christmas break. The Cats have been practicing for the last week, trying to get their legs back in shape after the break. The girls split with Halstead as the Varsity lost 18-51 and the JV girls won 32-20 (only 3 quarters played).  The C-team game was cancelled.

The Halstead girls got a big jump on the Cats as they lead 17-2 after the first quarter. The Wildcats had trouble shutting down Halstead's Gerber, who finished with 26 points. Mulvane scored 6 points in the 2nd quarter and went into halftime down 8-35. The Cats fared a little better in the 2nd half but still had trouble scoring and the game ended with an 18-51 loss.

Sophomore Kamryn Nolan lead the Wildcats with 5 points followed by junior Haley Hughes with 4 points, Carson White (Sr.), Haley Chambers (Jr.), Amber Hansen (So.), and Karlie Kanaga (Fr.) all finished with 2 points each, and freshman Haley Shaw finished with 1 point. Shaw lead the Cats on the boards with 6 rebounds and Kanaga with 3 boards, Nolan and White with 2 boards, and Hughes with 1 board.

The JV girls only played 3 quarters on Tuesday but were able to take down Halstead 32-20. Freshman Jadyn Stevenson lead the girls with 7 points and freshman Lauren Young finished with 6 points, freshman Haley Shaw with 5 points, junior Caylee Davis and freshman Karlie Kanaga both finished with 4 points each, and freshman Emma Kendrick, junior Cassidey Coon, and sophomore Olivia Lampe all finished with 2 points each.

The Wildcats will resume league play next Tuesday, January 14th as they host the Clearwater Indians.
