The Mulvane High School cross country team traveled to Harvey County East Lake on Thursday, October 1st for the Berean Invitational. The Cats have a history of good times at this course over the years, so Coach Chris Roderick was excited to see how the runners would do. "If you look at the record boards, many of the times up there are from this course," said Coach Roderick.
In the women's varsity 5000-meter run, senior Campbell Williams snagged a 4th place medal with her best time of the year of 21:30 (6:55 avg mile). Freshman Miranda Clark finished in 25th place, good for a medal, with a 25:25 time (7:52 avg mile). Junior Kamryn Nolan was close behind in 29th place with a 25:01 time (8:03 avg mile). Freshman Anna Stahl was right behind her in 30th place with a 25:14 time (8:07 avg mile).
In the men's varsity 5000-meter run, sophomore Chris Dietrich finished with a 23rd place medal with his best time of the year of 18:24 (5:55 avg mile). Senior Kyle Jones finished in 36th place with a 19:04 time (6:08 avg mile). Junior Jacob Duncan finished in 55th place with a 20:20 time (6:33 avg mile) and right behind him was junior Victor Salazar in 56th place with a 20:28 time (6:35 avg mile).
In the women's JV 5000-meter run, senior foreign exchange student Tessa Van Woerkom grabbed a 6th place medal in her first race of the year with a time of 27:58 (9:00 avg mile). Senior Ashley Hively finished in 16th place with a time of 35:03 (11:17 avg mile).
In the men's JV 5000-meter run, sophomore Owen Griffie led the Cats and finished in 18th place with a time of 22:04 (7:06 avg mile) followed by freshman Isaac Waterman in 24th place with a time of 23:59 (7:43 avg mile), senior Blake Dame in 31st place with a time of 26:56 (8:40 avg mile), and freshman Luke Richert in 35th place with a time of 35:07 (11:18 avg mile).
The Cats will travel to El Dorado to Gary Wartick's Farm for the AVCTL League race this coming Thursday, October 15th with races starting at 4:00 PM.
