Yesterday was Halloween 2020 and two of Mulvane's Cross Country runners dressed up as 4A State Medalists at the Wamego state cross country meets. Senior Campbell Williams, who qualified for state a week prior with a 6th place finish in the regionals, and sophomore Chris Dietrich who qualified for state with a 10th place finish in the regional meet made the long journey to Wamego and came home 4A state medalists.

Campbell, who was very glad it wasn't as cold as it was at regionals, ran her personal best time for the 5K with a 21:22.59, a 6:52 average mile, and finished in 13th place and cemented herself in the record books as a 4A cross country state medalist. Williams medaled in every race this year and her best finish was 4th place at the Berean Invitational. She also earned all-league 1st team honors at the AVCTL league meet.

Chris also ran his personal best time from this season and finished in 20th place with a time of 17:34.43, a 5:39 average mile, and also cemented himself in the record books as a 4A cross country state medalist. Dietrich medaled in the last 4 meets of the season and his best placement was 8th in the AVCTL league meet which he earned all-league 2nd team honors.

While Campbell will be graduating and will be greatly missed next season, Chris has two more years of cross country left and Coach Roderick is looking forward to seeing how Chris progresses in the next two years.
