The Mulvane men's basketball team hosted the Wellington Crusaders in the opening games of the 2022-23 season.

The Mulvane men's basketball team kicked off their 2022-23 season on Friday, December 2nd as Wellington came to town for a non-league matchup. The Cats, who were short a few starters, had a competitive first quarter, but the Crusaders jumped out ahead in the second with a 20-3 quarter. The Cats had trouble breaking through the Crusaders defense and fell 28-60. Aiden McKee (Jr.) led the Wildcats in points and rebounds with 12 points and 9 rebounds on the evening.

The JV boys started off slow with an 8-22 first quarter, but a strong third quarter found them clawing their way back in to the game, but the Cats fell 54-64 in a tough fought match. Parker Clubb (Fr.) led the Cats with 12 points in the matchup.

The Fr/So team had trouble getting points to fall against Wellington as they fell 22-59. The Cats found themselves down at halftime 11-34 and were unable to catch up in the second half. Dylan Mow led the boys with 9 points in the game.

The varsity and JV teams will be on the court again this evening as they take on Labette County in their first games of the Circle Thunderbird Classic Tournament. The game will be at home with JV playing at 5:45 PM and Varsity at 7:30 PM.
