Former Mulvane Wildcat and 2-time state champion Kammie Schanz (2023) completed her first year of college wrestling at Iowa Central CC at the NJCAA Nationals this weekend, and Kammie reached All-American status by finishing in 3rd place in the 143 lb weight class. Kammie had a bye in her first round and her first match was against Sarah Lewis of Indian Hills, which she won by fall. Her second match was against Abigail Trayhorn from Snow and Kammie lost that match. After that, Kammie went on a tear and won her next 3 matches over Gabriella Segre from Niacc (Tech Fall), Princess Altsisi from Iowa Central (Tech Fall), and Tarleen Saroya from Umpqua (Fall). This put Kammie in the 3rd place match against Neveah Leonard from Southeast and Kammie secured the 3rd place spot on the podium with a 7-6 win by decision.

As a team. the Iowa Central Tritons finished in 2nd place with 237 points behind Indian Hills.
