The Mulvane men's basketball team had a couple of tough road games against Winfield and McPherson.

The Mulvane men's basketball team opened up their post-Christmas break play last week on the road at Winfield and McPherson. The Varsity team faced a tough Winfield team on Tuesday. The boys took the 14-12 lead in the first quarter, but the Vikings were able to take a 25-23 lead into halftime. Winfield extended their lead after the third quarter to 36-29. The Wildcats had a great 4th quarter and made a comeback and were within 3, but fell 50-54. Manny Myers led the Cats with 23 points and Canon Lazier scored in double digits with 11. Braylon Barnes led the Cats in rebounds with 9 boards.

The JV team took care of business and won 56-45 over the Vikings behind a 22 point effort by Dyllon Darling and 13 points by Parker Kraft. The C-Team had a very close game but came out on top with a score of 48-45. Parker Harland and Kole Schwanke led the Cats with 16 points each.

The Wildcats made the long trip to McPherson on Friday to take on the Bullpups, who are one of the top teams in 4A. The Wildcats started strong in the first quarter but the Bullpups took the rest of the game and the Wildcats fell 40-76. Canon Lazier led the Cats with 12 points in the game and Manny Myers led the Cats on the boards with 6 rebounds.

The JV had trouble breaking through the McPherson defense all evening as they fell 26-56. Dyllon Darling led the Cats with 14 points on the evening. The Fr/So team had a shootout with McPherson as they were neck and neck for most of the ballgame but fell just short with a final score of 41-47. Kole Schwanke led the Wildcats with 20 points on the evening.
