The Mulvane varsity football faces tough opponent right out of the gate at Buhler

The Mulvane varsity football team traveled to Buhler on Friday, September 6, 2024, for their first game of the season and a league matchup against the Crusaders. The Wildcats and Crusaders were even after 1 quarter, but Buhler was able to get two scores in the second quarter. The Wildcats scored in the late 4th quarter with a 7-yard pass from Manny Myers to Hays Ensley, but the Cats fell 7-28.

The Wildcat's offense finished the game with 189 total yards on 53 plays with 19 yards rushing and 170 yards passing. Manny Myers finished with 170 yards on 15 completions out of 33 attempts and 1 passing TDs. Manny Myers finished with 14 yards rushing on 9 attempts. Hays Ensley finished with 71 yards receiving on 6 receptions and had 1 TD receptions.

The Wildcats' defense was led by Hays Ensley who finished with 12 tackles (7 solo - 5 assist). Reed Hackleman finished with 8 tackles (3 solo - 5 assist), and 1.0 tackles for loss. Cameron Hagerman finished with 7 tackles (2 solo - 5 assist). Grady Myers finished with 7 tackles (5 solo - 2 assist), 1.0 tackles for loss. Dylan Rogers finished with 6 tackles (2 solo - 4 assist), 2.0 tackles for loss.

The JV team hosted the Crusaders on Monday and the Wildcats found themselves down 0-16 at halftime. The Cats were able to get a couple of scores in the second half with a 4-yard run by Keaton Grizzle and a very nice 51-yard TD pass from Jeter Tatum to Brody Clasen. The final score was 14-30.
