The MMS boys basketball teams had a great week, going 7-8 against McPherson and Augusta.

The Mulvane Middle School boys basketball team traveled to McPherson and hosted Augusta last week. The Wildcats had a great night at McPherson, sweeping the Bullpups 4-0 on the night. The 8A game was a very close game with the Wildcats going into halftime up 16-12. The Wildcats were able to hang on for the 35-31 win. Beckett Frazier led the Cats with 15 points on the evening. The 8B team had a great first half, only allowing 2 points with an 18-2 halftime lead. The Cats finished strong with a 26-18 win. Jaxon Treat led the Wildcats with 9 points in the game.

The 7A team had no trouble against McPherson as they won the game 46-33. The Wildcats had a huge first half and went into halftime 30-15. The Cats only scored 16 in the second half, but a strong defensive effort got them the 46-33 win. Axel Meek led the boys with 23 points and Jax Abasolo broke into double digits with 10 points. The 7B team had no trouble against McPherson as they won the game 48-12. The boys jumped out ahead in the first half with a 17-10 lead at halftime. McPherson was not able to hang with the Cats in the second half and the Cats got the 48-12 win. Diesyl Lasiter led the Cats with 10 points in the contest.

It was a hard fought game between both teams as the 8A team faced Augusta but the Cats came out on top 34-26. The Cats jumped out ahead in the first half with an 18-15 lead at halftime. Augusta was not able to hang with the Cats in the second half and the Cats got the 34-26 win. Beckett Frazier and Hollis Ensley led the Wildcats with 14 and 13 points respectively in the game. The 8B game was a close one but in the end the Cats came out on top 33-27. The Cats lost the first quarter but were able to edge Augusta in the next three quarters for the win. Jaxon Treat led the Cats with 10 points on the evening.

It was a nail-biter of a game as the 7A team faced Augusta but the Wildcats fell 47-49. The Wildcats took the lead during the first half, going into halftime up 27-23. The boys were outscored in the second half 20-26 and fell 47-49 in a very exciting finish. Christian Perkins led the Cats with 17 points and Deisyl Lasiter finished with 10 points. The 7B team took care of business and got a 48-31 win behind a 22-point effort by Kolby Burke. The Cats jumped out ahead in the first quarter with a 7-5 lead and had a monster 18-0 second quarter. The Cats were able to coast in the second half for the win.
