The Mulvane High School wrestling team traveled to McPherson last Friday and Saturday for the 2024-25 4A West Super Regional tournament to determine who makes it to the 4A State tournament on February 28 - March 1, 2025, at Salina. The Wildcats took 8 wrestlers to regionals and the Wildcats had 4 wrestlers qualify for the state tournament.

Senior Leiannah Landreth cruised through the 120 lb weight class and grabbed her 4th regional championship and earned her 4th trip to state, going 4-0 in the tournament and getting 3 wins by fall and 1 win by tech fall.

Junior Makenzie Rogers had the most matches of any Wildcats with six matches in the 145 lb weight class. Makenzie finished in 6th place and earned her second trip to state after pinning her opponent in the heartbreak round. Rogers went 3-3 in the tournament.

Junior Elaina Gamble wrestled in the 155 lb weight class and after falling in her first match, she had to climb back through the consolation bracket and also earned a trip to state when she pinned her opponent in the heartbreak round. Gamble finished in 8th place and will head to Salina for the first time in her career.

Sophomore Shelby Light, who had never wrestled before this year, lost her first match and also had to go through the consolation bracket. Shelby received a bye and in the heartbreak round, she was able to pin her opponent and stamped her ticket to Salina. Shelby went 2-2 in the tournament and finished in 7th place.
