Former Mulvane Standout Trey Abasolo Named KCAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Southwestern College senior Trey Abasolo continues to add to his impressive basketball résumé, earning KCAC Men's

Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
 honors after an outstanding two-game stretch for the Moundbuilders.

Abasolo played a pivotal role in Southwestern’s perfect 2-0 week, leading the team with 23.5 points per game while shooting an efficient 61.5% from the field and 75% from three-point range. His stellar performances helped propel the Builders to key victories over Kansas Wesleyan and Evangel.

Against Kansas Wesleyan, Abasolo erupted for a career-high 28 points, shooting 11-of-17 from the field3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. His offensive firepower set the tone in a critical road win. In the matchup against Evangel, he continued to shine, posting 19 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals, further showcasing his all-around game.

A Legacy of Success
Before making his mark at Southwestern College, Abasolo was a record-setting star at Mulvane High School, where he graduated as the all-time leading scorer with 1,451 career points—the most in school history. His name is etched in the Mulvane record books, holding several individual milestones, including:

  • Most Career Rebounds: 462 (2017-21)
  • Most Career Free Throws Made: 350 (2017-21)
  • Best Free Throw Percentage in a Career: 75.3% (2017-21)
  • Most Career Three-Pointers Made: 189 (2017-21)
  • Most Charges Taken in a Career: 33 (2017-21)
  • Best Free Throw Percentage in a Game: 100% (12-of-12, 2019-20)
  • Second-Most Points in a Single Game: 40 (2020-21)

Abasolo’s transition to the collegiate level has been seamless. Throughout his career at Southwestern, he has helped the Moundbuilders to one KCAC Tournament Championship and three consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances.
Keeping it in the Family

Basketball success runs in the Abasolo family, as Trey’s younger brother, Kaiden Abasolo, is also at Southwestern College. A 2024 Mulvane High School graduate, Kaiden is currently recovering from foot surgery but is expected to contribute to the Moundbuilders’ program in the near future.

With his leadership, efficiency, and ability to take over games, Trey Abasolo continues to be a driving force for Southwestern College as the team eyes another deep postseason run.
