The Mulvane Middle School boys basketball teams kicked off their 2024-25 season, go 3-1 at Wellington.

The Mulvane Middle School boys basketball kicked off their season last Thursday on the road at Wellington. The Wildcats went 3-1 against the Knights. It was a nail-biter of a game as the 8A team faced Wellington but the Cats fell 38-40. Wellington jumped out ahead of the boys in the first half as the Cats went into halftime down 25-29. The Wildcats had a good second half and outscored Wellington 13-11 but still fell 38-40. Hollis Ensley led the Wildcats with 21 points on the evening.

The 8B team also had a close game but the Cats came out on top 28-24. The Cats jumped out ahead in the first half with a 13-11 lead at halftime. The Cats closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Wellington 15-13 and got the win 28-24. Easton Hayes led the boys with 6 points in the game.

The 7A team had no trouble against Wellington as they won the game 42-21. After a slow start for both teams in the first quarter, the Wildcats went ahead at halftime 15-14. The Cats dominated the second half, outscoring Wellington 27-7 for the 42-21 win. Jax Abasolo led the boys with 11 points in the contest.

The 7B team had a close game with the Knights but the Cats came out on top 27-23. The Wildcats held the Knights scoreless in the first quarter and were ahead at halftime 15-7. The Knights outscored the Wildcats in the second half but the Cats held on for the 27-23 win. Layne Sorensen led the Wildcats with 6 points in the game.
