The Mulvane High School girls basketball team had a busy week last week at the Thunderbird Classic. The girls made the long trip to Parsons, hosted Labette County, and played Independence at Circle High School. The Wildcats went 2-1 in the tournament and finished in 2nd place.
The Cats kicked off the tournament on the road at Parsons and jumped out to a 30-14 lead at halftime. The girls finished strong and won 49-30. Brittani Peschel led the Cats with 15 points in the game and Rylee Dieker led the Cats in rebounds with 7 boards.
The next game for the Cats was against Labette County at home and it was a close battle with the Grizzlies, but the Cats fell just short with a score of 37-42. Brittani Peschel led the Ladycats with 16 points in the contest and Kylie Schwanke led the girls in rebounds with 9 boards.
The final game of the tournament for Mulvane was at Circle against Independence. This game also was very close, an evenly matched game that came down to the wire, but the Cats were able to get the 56-50 win, securing 2nd place in the tournament. Brittani Peschel led the girls with 22 points in the game and also led the Cats on the boards with 7 rebounds.
Brittany Peschel and Olivia Ellis were selected to the 2024 Thunderbird Classic All-Tournament Team.

The JV girls also played three games last week and went 3-0 on the week. They had no trouble at Parsons with a 42-27 win, led by Kaitlyn Paul with 8 points. The girls also took care of business at home against Labette with a 44-31 win, led by Juliana Holman with 14 points. The girls dominated Circle with a 46-18 win over the Thunderbirds and again led by Juliana Holman with 14 points and Kaitlyn Paul broke into double digits with 11 points.
