The 8th-grade girls' basketball team wrapped up their 2024 season with an away game at El Dorado last Monday and a home game against Haysville last Thursday, then the league tournament on Saturday and this past Monday. The 8A girls had a close game against El Dorado, but the Cats came out on top with a 27-23 win. Sophia Comer led the Cats with 13 points. The 8B team however had no trouble against El Dorado as they won the game 27-8 with Lyllie Brunnelson, Reese Noell, and Rori Turner all scoring 9 points each for the Cats.

The 8A team had no trouble against Haysville as they won the game 40-11. The girls jumped out ahead in the first half with a 26-5 lead at halftime and kept up the pressure all second half for the 29 point win. Jayde Lasiter led the girls with 9 points on the evening. The 8B team also had a great game against Haysville, winning 31-17 behind an 18-point effort by Lyllie Brunnelson.

The 8A girls traveled to Wellington on Saturday for the Patriot League tournament. The girls got a bye for the first round and then faced Clearwater in the second round. The girls jumped out to a 25-18 lead in the first half and they finished strong in the second half and got the win 54-30, and earned a trip to the ship on Monday.
The Wildcats had trouble getting any shots to fall in the championship game at Wellington on Monday. The Knights, in contrast, could not seem to miss as the Wildcats fell behind 11-29 at halftime. The second half was much the same and the Cats fell 17-46 for 2nd place in the tournament.

The 8A girls finished the season with a 10-4 record and 4-1 in league play. The Cats were led by Jayde Lasiter who finished with 139 points (9.9 points per game), Jillian Heersche who finished with 131 points (9.4 points per game), and Sophia Comer who finished with 107 points (7.6 points per game). The 8B girls finished the season with a 5-6 record and 2-2 in league play. The Cats were led by Rori Turner who finished with 99 points (9.0 points per game) and Lyllie Brunnelson who finished with 72 points (8.0 points per game).
