The Mulvane Middle School football teams were at home last Thursday, hosting the Winfield Vikings in their 6th game of the season.
The 7th-grade team got on the board in the third quarter with a 23-yard touchdown reception by Brody Button from Layne Sorensen, but the Wildcats struggled to get in the endzone the rest of the game as they fell 6-34. "We came up against a tough Winfield team," said Coach Beikman. "We played some great defense in the first half but were just on the field too much on defense and gave up some touchdowns late in the game. We struggled on offense and could not get any momentum going."

Mulvane scoring:
In the 8th-grade game, the Wildcats jumped on the board in the first quarter with a 3-yard TD run by Hollis Ensley. Ensley found the endzone again in the second quarter with another 3-yard run. The Cats scored one last time in the fourth quarter with a 24-yard TD pass from Beckett Frazier to Jacob Hooten. The Cats gave up a couple of scores in the fourth but were able to hold on for the 22-14 win. "This 8th grade team continues to improve each week," said Coach Beikman. "They play so well as a team and work well together on the field."

The 8th grade boys move to 4-2 on the year and the 7th grade boys are at 3-3. The MMS boys will be back home next week as they will close out their season against Rose Hill.
