MHS - Football / September 4, 2023 By Kasey McDowell
The Mulvane Middle School football teams opened up their 2023 season by hosting the Rose Hill Rockets and getting the sweep on the evening. The 7th-grade boys jumped out ahead in the first half with TD runs by Beckett Frazier and Brody Sanders. Hollis Ensley found Frazier with an 18-yard TD pass in the third period and Ensley rounded out the scoring with a 23-yard run in the fourth quarter for the 30-0 win.
"There are always a lot of unknowns when a new class comes in game one," said Coach Beikman. "We have battled through adversity to start this season with the heat and having to modify our normal practice schedule. This group has done a great job adjusting to all these changes and getting better with each practice."

Mulvane scoring:
The 8th-grade boys fell behind in the first quarter but finished the game strong in the second half with 3 scores, all from runningback Tavion Richardson, a 28-yard run, a 40-yard run, and a 5-yard run. The Cats held Rose Hill scoreless after the first quarter for the 22-8 win.
"We got off to a slow start but the boys kept battling," said Coach Beikman. "We made a few adjustments at half, but the biggest change was our effort and intensity in the second half. We need to eliminate penalties as we had a few touchdowns called back. Great improvement usually happens from week one to week two because now we know what we need to work on."
The Wildcats will be on the road this Thursday at Winfield with the games starting at 4:30 PM.
