MHS - Football / October 7, 2023 By Kasey McDowell
It was a short turnaround again for the Mulvane Middle School football teams as they faced Clearwater on Thursday, September 28th and then faced Augusta the next Tuesday, October 3rd. The Wildcats hosted Augusta on Tuesday for their last home games of the season. The 8th-grade defense was in full force against Augusta as they scored 3 defensive touchdowns in the first half. The Cats scored 4 offensive touchdowns as well and the Cats cruised to a 54-0 win.
"These boys are starting to play some great team football," said Coach Beikman. "Our first two scores came on defense, with a total of three defensive touchdowns. We were able to get all of our players some good experience all night."

Mulvane scoring:
The MMS boys traveled to Clearwater the previous Thursday and the 8th-grade boys came home with a 28-12 win. "It was a tale of two halves," said Coach Beikman. "We moved the ball on offense to start the game, but could not convert that into touchdowns due to penalties. We spotted them a two-touchdown lead at half but came to play football in the second half. We played more physically and played as a team and the success showed on the scoreboard."
The 7th-grade boys once again had a defensive touchdown as Beckett Frazier had a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown, but the Cats struggled to get any more points on the board as they fell 6-16. "Our kids continue to play good defense," said Coach Beikman. "We have been in every game this year, but we struggle on offense which puts a lot of pressure on our defense. These kids need to get more physical on offense and be able to move the ball up and down the field."
