The Mulvane varsity football team hosted McPherson on Friday, October 13, 2023, for a league matchup against the Bullpups. The Wildcats celebrated senior night for the football team and fall sports teams before the game. The senior football players recognized were #0 Aiden McKee, #1 Shannon Fuller, #2 Brayden Tatum, #7 Lucas Sorensen, #12 Gavin Wayman, #14 Levi Kasparek, #15 Garrett Olson, #40 Kaiden Abasolo, #42 Garrett Booe, #50 Austin Vanderhoof, #56 Tucker Hargrove, #60 John Noell, #63 Josh Lien, #77 Kayden Richecky, and #80 Gavin Clinesmith.
The Cats jumped on the scoreboard quickly after a fumble recovery and a 21-yard field goal by senior Aiden McKee. Fisher Dye broke loose for a 71-yard TD run at the 4:49 mark of the first quarter, but the Wildcats were unable to get into the endzone the rest of the game, falling 10-28.
The Wildcat's offense finished the game with 252 total yards on 49 plays with 136 yards rushing and 116 yards passing. Manny Myers finished with 116 yards on 14 completions out of 22 attempts and 0 passing TDs. Fisher Dye finished with 85 yards rushing on 14 attempts and 1 rushing TD(s). Lucas Sorensen finished with 68 yards receiving on 4 receptions and had 0 TD reception(s).
The Wildcat's defense was led by Tucker Hargrove finished with 6 tackles (4 solo - 4 assist). Garrett Olson finished with 6.5 tackles (5 solo - 3 assist). Kaiden Abasolo finished with 5 tackles (3 solo - 4 assist) and 0.5 tackles for loss. Dylan Rogers finished with 5.5 tackles (5 solo - 1 assist) and 0.5 tackles for loss. Hays Ensley finished with 5 tackles (4 solo - 2 assist).

Scoring Plays:
In what can be described only as a "wild" game, the JV team took on the JV Bullpups at McPherson on Monday, October 16th. The teams combined for a total of 120 points in the game, with 62 points scored in the 3rd quarter alone. McPherson jumped out ahead in the first with a couple of scores and the Cats responded with a 25-yard pass from Grady Myers to Caleb Boor. MAC scored a couple more times and then Grady Myers found the endzone with a 7-yard run. The Wildcats went into halftime down 14-32.
Kurtis Caruthers kicked off the scoring for the teams in the 3rd quarter with a 51-yard run. MAC resonded with a TD on the ensuing kickoff, then Grady Myers scored on a 1-yard run. After another MAC touchdown, Caruthers returned the kickoff for a touchdown, then MAC returned the next kickoff for a TD. MAC scored two more times in the 3rd and Grady Myers scored again on a 6-yard run. MAC scored two more times in the 4th to end the game.
The varsity is sitting at 3-4 and JV is sitting at 5-2 on the season. Tomorrow the Wildcats will close out the regular season and league play at Circle.
