The Mulvane High School boys basketball split in last games of December, top Winfield but fall to Circle.

The Mulvane High School men's basketball team wrapped up their games for the year (until after Christmas break) last week. The Cats traveled to Winfield on Tuesday and hosted Circle on Friday. The varsity team jumped out ahead by 4 points in the first quarter and then had a great second quarter to take a 39-26 lead into halftime. The game was fairly even in the second half and the Wildcats got the 64-45 win. Kaiden Abasolo had his best game of the season with 28 points and Shannon Fuller broke into double digits with 12 points. Aiden McKee, Manny Myers, and Canon Lazier all led the Cats on the boards with 5 rebounds each.

The JV team had no trouble against Winfield as they won the game 69-36. Braylon Barnes led the Wildcats with 11 points in the game and Jack Entwisle, Cooper Clayton, and Hays Ensley all scored 9 points each. The Fr/So team had a monster win against Winfield with a final score of 71-41. Jack Entwisle led the Cats with 18 points and Hays Ensley scored in double digits with 13 points.

The Wildcats hosted Circle last Friday in a much-anticipated game as both teams came into the contest with a 5-0 record. The Wildcats jumped out ahead in the first quarter with a 16-13 lead, but the Thunderbirds made ground in the second quarter, going into halftime up 32-29. The Wildcats fell behind 3 more points after the third quarter and kept fighting in the fourth, but fell just short, for their first loss of the season, 58-66. Shannon Fuller led the Wildcats with 17 points and Aiden McKee dropped in 12 points. Gavin Wayman led the Cats on the boards with 8 rebounds and Manny Myers grabbed 7 boards as well.

The JV and Fr/So teams both won their games against Circle with the JV final score of 58-42 and the Fr/So game final score of 53-32. Cooper Slayton and Canon Lazier both scored in double digits with 15 and 10 points respectively in the JV game. Jack Entwisle, Braylon Barnes, and Hays Ensley led the Cats with 16, 11, and 10 points.

The varsity boys are sitting at 5-1 on the season and 1-1 in AVCTL D3 league play. The JV boys are sitting at 4-2 on the year and the Fr/So team are at 4-1. The Wildcats will be back in action at home against Augusta on Friday, January 5th.
