The Mulvane Men's Golf Team has been hitting the links the last few weeks and Coach Kyle Headrick has been working with the boys to get ready for the first tournament, the Andover Invitational at Crestview Country Club on Monday, April 6th at 1:00 PM.
"We have 6 returning players. We also have 5 freshmen joining the team. The team has been working hard on their fundamentals and also playing the course to learn course management strategies. I am looking forward to the first tournaments of the season," said Coach Headrick.
Senior Julian Whetzel has the most varsity experience on the team as a returner as he participated in every varsity meet last season. He shot an average of 99.8 per 18 holes and 49.9 per 9 holes. Junior Gerald Collier participated in a few varsity meets last year and shot an average of 103.7 per 18 holes and 51.8 per 9 holes.
Junior Ian Moore participated in JV meets last year and shot an average of 44 per 9 holes. Junior Kyle Jones participated in JV meets last year and shot an average of 47 per 9 holes. Junior Rhyse Tallman participated in JV meets and 1 varsity meet last year and shot an average of 100 per 18 holes and 50 per 9 holes. Sophomore Layne Merchant participated in JV meets last year and shot an average of 59 per 9 holes.
There are five freshmen on the team this season, Logan Alcorn, Alex Dial, Damian Immell, Kolby Stacy, and Gabriel Young.
