The Mulvane Middle School football team continue their winning ways with a sweep over Clearwater.

The Mulvane Middle School football team continues it's winning ways as they travelled to Clearwater on Thursday, October 1st to take on the Indians in a Patriot League matchup. The 7th-grade team was locked in a scoreless battle for the first three quarters but the Mulvane defenders Kaedyn Aust and Rocky Heersche tackled the quarterback in the endzone for a safety and the first 2 points of the game in the fourth quarter.

The Cats secured the 10-0 win with a 7 yard run by quarterback Manny Myers. The 7th grade team are sitting at 4-1 on the season and 3-0 in league play.

"The boys battled all night and we finally got a break in the 4th quarter with a great punt that pinned them on the goalline.  We were able to capitalize on it with a safety and then score on the next drive to secure the win," said Coach Beikman

The 8th grade boys remain undefeated as they faced a tough battle with the Indians. After a scoreless first quarter, they jumped out to a 12-0 lead with a Fisher Dye 3 yard td run and a 24 yard TD pass from Aiden Heckathorn to Dye in the second quarter. The Cats added another score in the third quarter with a nice 50 yard run by Dye. The Indians added 12 points of their own in the third quarter and a fourth quarter score as well, but the Cats were able to hold on for the 20-18 win.

"We jumped out to a lead at halftime but Clearwater made a run at us in the second half.  Our defense played well when it mattered helping us to get the win," said Coach Beikman

The Wildats will host the Wellington Crusaders at Mulvane this coming Thursday, October 8th with the games starting at 5:00 PM.
