The Mulvane Men's Basketball team defeat Wellington to improve to 6-0 on the season.

The Mulvane men's basketball teams hit the courts again after the winter break and in fine fashion as the Varsity team continued their winning ways as they took care of the Wellington Crusaders at home. The JV team fell to the Crusaders for their first loss of the season and the C-Team crushed the Crusaders by 40 points.

The varsity boys started hot in the first quarter, scoring 17 points and holding the Crusaders to only 2 points. The teams were even in the second quarter and the Wildcats went into halftime up 29-14. The Crusaders came alive in the third quarter, outscoring the Cats 18-11 but the Cats ended the game with a strong 21-12 4th quarter for the 61-44 win.

Trey Abasolo (Sr.) led the Wildcats with a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Ian Comer (Jr.) had another strong game with 14 points and 8 rebounds, and also had 8 assists. Landon Coe (Jr.) finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Mason Ellis (Jr.) finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Canon Smith (Sr.) finished with 2 points and 5 rebounds. 

The Wildcats are sitting at 6-0 and currently ranked #2 in the state in 4A. The last time the Mulvane Wildcats started 6-0 on the season was 50 years ago in the 1970-71 season. Senior Trey Abasolo also passed former Wildcat great Lonny Travis's 3-year career point total (1175 points - 1982-85) as Trey currently is sitting at 1180 points in his career. Trey is third in all-time scoring behind former greats Jerry Webster (1218 points - 1952-56) and Drew Ellis (1382 points - 2015-19).

The JV boys played a tough game but fell 47-58 for their first loss of the season. The Cats won the first quarter but the Crusaders won the next 3 to hang on for the win. Kaiden Abasolo (Fr.) led the Cats with 14 points. Tyson Lazier (Jr.) finished with 10 points, Shannon Fuller (Fr.) finished with 8 points, Landon Coe (Jr.) finished with 7 points, Sam Westfall (Jr.) finished with 5 points, and Aiden McKee (Fr.) finished with 3 points. The JV boys are sitting at 5-1 on the season.

The C-Team finally made it back to the courts after missing 4 games due to quarantine. The C-team boys took care of business as they crushed the Crusaders 73-33. The Wildcats went into halftime up 34-26 and had a monster second half, winning the third quarter 25-17 and the fourth quarter 14-0. Aiden McKee (Fr.) led the Wildcats with 14 points followed by Shannon Fuller (Fr.) with 11 points, Gavin Wayman (Fr.) with 11 points, Logan Harness (So.) with 9 points, Garrett Olson (Fr.) with 8 points, Gavin Clinesmith (Fr.) with 6 points, Maurice Fuller (So.) with 5 points, Easton Groth (So.) with 3 points, and Chase Dieker (So.), Gavin Young (Fr.), and Kayden Richecky (Fr.) all with 2 points each.
