The Wildcats faced Field Kindley for the 2021 Fall Homecoming game, have no trouble with the Golden Tornadoes.

The Mulvane varsity football team was back at home last Friday, October 1st for a non-league game against the Golden Tornadoes and to celebrate the 2021 fall homecoming festivities. The Wildcats had a monster first quarter as they scored three times. The first was a 9-yard TD pass from Mason Ellis to Hunter Seier at the 7:48 mark. The second TD was Julien Myers on a 1-yard run at the 4:08 mark, and the third was another TD pass from Ellis to Seier for a 2-yard pass in the closing seconds of the first quarter.

The Cats had a great second quarter as well, starting with a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown by Ellis at the 11:03 mark. Ellis scored again at the 2:59 mark with a 3-yard TD run. The Cats scored one more time in the second quarter with a 6-yard pass from Ellis to Comer with 5 seconds left to go up 42-0 at halftime.

Much of the varsity roster got some rest in the second half and lots of players got some playing time. The Cats scored 3 points in the third quarter with a 35-yard field goal by Chase Dieker, his first field goal of the season. The Cats scored one last time in the game with an interception return for a TD by Garrett Olson at the start of the 4th quarter.

On the ground, Ellis led the charge with 62 yards on 8 attempts and 1 touchdown. Myers finished with 37 yards on 11 attempts and 1 touchdown. Ellis finished with 142 yards passing with 11 out of 13 completed and 3 touchdown passes. Myers led the Cats in receiving yards with 51 yards on 3 receptions and Seier finished with 34 yards on 4 receptions and 2 touchdowns. Comer finished with 26 yards on 2 receptions and 1 touchdown.

The Wildcats defense was dominant all game and held the Golden Tornadoes to just 41 yards passing and -61 yards rushing for a net total of -20 yards total. The defense was led by Trenton Davis who finished with 4.0 tackles (3 solo - 2 assist) while Ian Comer finished with 2.5 (1-3) and 1.5 tackles for loss, Andrew Huynh with 2.0 (0-4) with 0.5 tackles for loss, and Ethan Irvine with 1.5 (1-1) and 1.0 tackles for loss as the top 5 tacklers. Julien Myers and Garrett Olson both had interceptions for the Wildcats, Olson's was a return for a touchdown.

The c-team faced Kapaun Mt-Carmel on Monday and the Wildcats struggled with some turnovers early in the game as they fell 10-35 against the Crusaders.

The varsity will host the Rose Hill Rockets tomorrow for an AVCTL D4 game starting at 7:00 PM.
