The Mulvane Middle School football teams traveled to Rose Hill last Thursday, September 22nd for a Patriot League matchup against the Rockets. The 7th-grade boys have been improving each week and got their first win of the season over the Rockets with a final score of 20-6. "These boys put together four solid quarters and came away with their first win of the season," said Coach Beikman. Jeter Tatum found Taven Osborn for an 8-yard TD pass and the Cat's first score in the second quarter and Tavion Richardson found the endzone with a 5-yard run to take the 14-6 halftime lead. The Cats solidified the win with a 1-yard TD run by Tatum in the 4th quarter. "These boys continue to work hard every day and improve, and their hard work is starting to pay off," said Beikman.

The 8th-grade boys faced a good Rose Hill team this week and were evenly matched until the Rockets broke the game open in the 4th quarter for the 28-14 win. The Wildcats found the endzone in the second quarter with a 27-yard pass from Grady Myers to Hays Ensley and the teams went into halftime tied 6-6. The Cats took a momentary lead in the 3rd quarter with a 3-yard TD run by Hays Ensley and a Myers 2-pt conversion run, but the Rockets had the final say with two TDs in the 4th to close out the game. "We played a very talented Rose Hill team and knew we had to play our best game of the year to win," said Coach Beikman. "The boys played hard for four quarters, but we just could not overcome their depth. These boys battle every time they take the field."
The Wildcats will be back at home for the next 2 weeks and will face Winfield on Thursday, September 29th and Wellington on Thursday, October 6th.
