The Mulvane Middle School football teams had their final season games this week as the 7th-grade boys traveled to Clearwater on Thursday, October 13th for a Patriot League matchup against the Indians. The Wildcats and Indians had a defensive battle and went into halftime tied 0-0. Clearwater was able to slip one into the endzone in the 3rd quarter and hold off the Cats for the 6-0 win. "We played one of our best defensive games of the year and held them to just one score," said Coach Beikman. "Unfortunately, we could not find the endzone on offense. We seem to hurt ourselves at key times. This group of kids showed improvement each week and I can’t wait to see what they will do next year."

The 8th-grade boys played on Tuesday instead of the normal Thursday this week due to Clearwater not fielding an 8th-grade team. The boys traveled to Independence for a game with the undefeated Bulldogs. The Bulldogs hit first and quick, scoring on the first play of the game. The Cats buckled down and held the dogs at bay until the second half, but the Cats had trouble getting the offense rolling. The boys scored in the 4th quarter but fell 8-14. "We came up against an undefeated Independence team and struggled in the first half on offense," said Coach Beikman. "After halftime, the boys played more to their ability and we competed but could not pull it out in the end."
