The Mulvane varsity football team celebrated senior night and hosted Circle in week 8 for a league matchup against the Thunderbirds. The Birds had a big 19 point second quarter to springboard them to a 40-14 win over the Wildcats. The Cats were able to break into the endzone twice with 14-yard TD pass from Lucas Sorensen to Shannon Fuller and a 7-yard TD pass from Sorensen to Chase Dieker.
The Wildcat offense finished the game with 181 total yards on 57 plays with -1 net yards rushing and 182 yards passing. Lucas Sorensen (Jr.) finished with 173 yards on 16 completions and 2 passing TDs. Fisher Dye (So.) led the Cats on the ground with 28 yards rushing on 9 attempts. Julien Myers (Sr.) finished with 63 yards receiving on 6 receptions, Shannon Fuller (Jr.) finished with 47 yards on 4 receptions and 1 TD reception. Chase Dieker (Sr.) finished with 43 yards receiving on 6 receptions and 1 TD reception.
The defense was led by Ethan Irvine with 4.5 tackles (1 solo - 7 assist), 1.0 sacks, and 1.5 tackles for loss, Tyke Creekmore (Sr.) with 4.5 tackles (3-3), Maurice Fuller with 4.0 tackles (3-2), Julien Myers with 3.5 tackles (2-3), Garrett Olson with 2.5 tackles (0-5) and 1 INT, Trenton Davis with 2.5 tackles (2-1), and Kaiden Abasolo with 2.5 tackles (1-3) and 0.5 tackles for loss.

Scoring Plays:
The Freshman / Sophomore team traveled to Circle on Monday, October 24th, and the Cats wasted no time in getting on top with a 38 point first half. The Wildcats were able to coast to the 50-24 win in the second half. Myers, Caruthers, Kasparek, and Vanderhoof all reached the endzone for the Cats, including a blocked punt by Rock Heersche that Vanderhoof recovered in the endzone for the defensive TD. The Freshman/Sophomore team had a great season, finishing up with a 6-2 record.
The varsity will travel to McPherson again for a rematch against the Bullpups for the first round of 4A State this Friday.
