The Mulvane mens basketball teams wrapped up their tournament week on Saturday as they faced Parsons in the 3rd game of the Thunderbird Classic. The Varsity team faced a tough Parsons team and the game came down to just a few of points and the boys came out on top 51-49. The Cats and Vikings were neck-and-neck the entire game and the Cats went into halftime down 28-30.
The Cats gained 1 point in the 3rd quarter and was able to take the lead in the 4th and hold off the Vikings for the 2-point win. Aiden McKee led the boys with a season high 34 points and 9 rebounds. Easton Groth had an incredible defensive game and took 7 charges, breaking the charges taken in a game record of 4 held by Trey Abasolo in the 2018-19 season.

The varsity boys made the long trip to Independence on Thursday, December 8th for game 2 of the tournament. The 4-23 second quarter had the Cats down but and there were unable to claw back into the game, falling 32-51. Aiden McKee led the boys with 15 points on the evening.

Game 1 of the tournament was at Mulvane on Tuesday, December 6th as the Cats hosted Labette Co. The Grizzlies, who were very tall, outscored the Cats in two of the four quarters and hung on to the 62-46 win. The Cats were led by Aiden McKee who had a great game scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds.

The JV boys had a busy week as well, facing Labette Co, Independence, and Parsons in the tournament. The Cats fell in a close battle 47-51 to Parsons on Saturday with Cooper Slayton leading the way with 19 points. The Wildcats were able to top Independence 41-36 last Thursday with Gavin Wayman leading the way with 11 points. The Cats won the first game of the tournament against Labette Co. 55-39 with three Cats in double digits, Parker Clubb and Manny Myers with 12 points each and Gavin Wayman with 11 points.

The freshman/sophomore group only had 2 games last week against Independence and Labette County. The Cats were able to grab a win from Independence with a last second shot by Cannon Lazier for the 48-45 win. The points breakdown for this game is not available. The Cats fell to Labette Co. 35-59 with Dylan Mow leading the Cats with 11 points.
