The varsity wrestling team finishes in 5th place at Bishop Carroll, Chris Dietrich grabs gold for the Wildcats.

The Mulvane High School wrestling teams wrapped up their pre-winter break wrestling yesterday at Bishop Carroll for the varsity boys and Rose Hill for the JV squad. The varsity team did great at Bishop Carroll, earning a 5th-place team finish with 113 points out of 14 teams, including several 5A and 6A schools. 
The Cats finished with one first-place and two second-place finishes in the tournament.
Senior Chris Dietrich grabbed the gold in the 190 lb weight class with all 4 wins by fall. Sophomore Koehn Dietrich finished in 2nd place in the 106 lb weight class with 2 wins by fall and 1 win by major decision. Senior Ethan Irvine also finished in 2nd place in the 215 lb weight class with 3 wins by fall and 1 win by decision.

The JV team traveled to Rose Hill for the JV Invitational. The Wildcats had one 1st-place finish, three 2nd-place finishes, and four 3rd-place finishes. Sophomore Hunter Vanderhoof grabbed the gold in the 175A weight class. Finishing in 2nd place for the Cats was Sophomore Ethan Magill in the 126B weight class, freshman KJ Schanz in the 165A weight class, and junior Alex Mbisso in the 190C weight class. Finishing in 3rd place was freshman Hunter Landis in the 120A weight class, senior Jericka Stiles in the girls 135 lb weight class, freshman Bearret Lucas in the 144B weight class, and freshman Donnie Barron in the 190B weight class.
