MHS - Men's Basketball / February 19, 2023 By Kasey McDowell
The Mulvane men's basketball team traveled to Winfield last Tuesday for a league matchup against the Vikings. The varsity team jumped out ahead in the first half 39-23 and finished strong in the second half to hold on for the 63-50 win. Kaiden Abasolo had a great game and led the boys with 33 points on the evening and also on the boards with 8 rebounds.
The JV boys had a shootout with the Vikings but the Cats came up just short, falling 45-47. Canon Lazier and Cooper Slayton led the Cats with 12 points each in the matchup. The Fr/So team jumped out ahead 32-17 in the first half and held on for the 55-46 win. Jonathan Wilson led the Cats with 13 points on the evening. Qin Wilt and Canon Lazier broke into double digits with 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Cats hosted Augusta on Friday and the varsity team had a close game against the Orioles but fell just short 38-43. Aiden McKee led the Cats with 15 points on the evening and Kaiden Abasolo led the Cats on the boards with 8 rebounds.
The JV team had a shootout with the Orioles and a good third quarter propelled the Cats to a 5-point lead and they were able to hold on for the 54-51 win. Canon Lazier led the Cats with 16 points on the evening. The Fr/So game came down to the wire but the Cats fell just short 50-53. The third quarter was the difference for the Wildcats as they lost 9 points in that frame. Grey Sanders led the Cats with 12 points on the evening.
