The MHS volleyball girls go 1-1 in home opener and also split in their season opening tournament at North.

The Mulvane High School volleyball team had their first home triangular this season last Tuesday, August 29th with Circle and Augusta coming into town. The Wildcats faced a good Circle team first and fell 0-2 (12-25 & 14-25) but the Cats came back in the nightcap against Augusta and won 2-0 (25-15 & 25-23).

The Cats were led in kills by Madi Cunningham with 12 on the evening. Makenna Treat led the team in blocks with 7 on the evening and had 10 kills. Ashlyn Alumbaugh led the team in assists with 16 and Charli Richardson finished with 15 assists. Teagan Garrison led the team in digs with 19 in the triangular.

The JV girls opened their season at home in a triangular versus Circle and Augusta last Tuesday. They finished the evening going 1-1 with a loss to Circle (14-25 & 19-25) and an exciting 2-1 win over Augusta (25-9, 23-25, & 15-13).

The Fr/So girls opened their season on the road in a dual versus Wellington on Thursday, August 31st and won the 5-game match 3-2 (23-25, 25-10, 13-25, 25-19, & 15-11).

The Wildcats opened up the season at the Wichita North tournament on Saturday, August 26th, going 2-2 on the day with a 3-0 win over El Dorado (25-15, 25-13, & 25-14), a 2-3 loss to Wichita North (29-27, 25-22, 18-25, 24-26, & 9-15), a 2-0 win over Ark City (25-12 & 25-20), and a 1-2 loss to Salina Central (25-17, 18-25, & 15-25).

Makenna Treat led the Cats in kills, blocks, and aces in the tournament with 30, 8, and 11 respectively. Madi Cunningham led the cats in attacks with 57. Teagan Garrison led Mulvane in digs with 29 on the day. Ashlyn Alumbaugh led the Wildcats in assists with 42 in the tournament and also finished with 10 aces.

The varsity and JV girls will be on the road on Tuesday, September 5th as they travel to Andale for a triangular with Anale and Clearwater. The Fr/So girls will be hosting a quad at home on Thursday, September 7th with Rose Hill, Winfield, and Buhler coming to town.
