The MHS volleyball girls celebrated senior night last week and also took 1st place at the Belle Plaine Invitational.

The Mulvane High School volleyball girls celebrated senior night last Tuesday, October 3rd, hosting El Dorado and Winfield in a triangular. The Wildcats celebrated seniors #5 Teagan Garrison, #8 Ashlyn Alumbaugh, and #12 Justice Blake and their families. The Wildcat's first match of the evening was against El Dorado and the Cats swept the visitors 2-0 with scores of 25-12 and 25-5. The nightcap was against Winfield and the Wildcats swept the Vikings 2-0 as well with scores of 25-20 and 25-16.

Junior Madi Cunningham led the Cats in kills with 18 on the evening and finished with 12 digs. Junior Makenna Treat led the Cats in Aces with 5 and finished with 7 kills and 2 blocks. Senior Ashlyn Alumbaugh led the team in digs with 18 and also had 18 assists as well. Sophomore Charli Richardson led the team in assists with 29 and finished with 5 digs and 3 kills. Senior Teagan Garrison finished with 14 kills and 11 digs. Junior Lexi Cunningham finished with 11 kills and 11 digs.

The Junior varsity girls also had a great night, winning both their matches 2-0 with scores of 25-9 and 25-6 against El Dorado and 25-11 and 25-8 against Winfield.

The varsity girls took 1st place in the Belle Plaine tournament for the second year in a row on Saturday, September 30th, going 4-1 on the day, starting with a 2-1 win over Belle Plaine (21-25, 25-13, & 25-16), a 2-0 win over Moundridge (25-14 & 25-16), a 1-2 loss to Central Christian (25-17, 19-25, & 18-25), a 2-0 win over Attica (25-19 & 25-22), and a 2-0 win over Chaparral (25-11 & 25-18).

Senior Teagan Garrison and juniors Makenna Treat and Madi & Lexi Cunningham were all selected to the Belle Plaine All-Tournament team.

The varsity girls are sitting at 14-11 on the season, the JV girls are 9-13, and the fr/so girls are 5-16.

The varsity and JV girls will be back in action this Tuesday as they make the long trek to McPherson. The fr/so girls will close out their season at home this Thursday with a triangular against Circle & Winfield.
