The Mulvane High School girls basketball split in last games of December, top Winfield but fall to Circle.

The Mulvane High School women's basketball team wrapped up their games for the year until after Christmas break last week. The Cats traveled to Winfield on Tuesday and hosted Circle on Friday. The varsity girls jumped out ahead of Winfield and took a 21-10 lead into halftime. The second half was pretty even between the teams but the Cats got the 35-20 win. Teagan Garrison led the Cats with 13 points on the evening and Ashley Young had a great night on the boards with 11 rebounds.

The JV team had no trouble against Winfield as they won the game 50-19. Reece Lazier led the Wildcats with 19 points in the game. Gracyn Crow led the girls with 9 points in the Fr/So game and Jaryn Baker dropped in 8 points as the Cats won 33-19.

The Wildcats hosted the Circle Thunderbirds last Friday for the final games of the year before the Christmas break. The varsity girls had trouble getting points to fall against Circle as they fell 15-33. The Wildcats were 5-33 for field goals as a team and 3-8 from the free throw line. Madison Shaw led the girls with 5 points in the game as well as on the boards with 6 rebounds. 

The JV team had a shootout with Circle but fell just short with a final score of 29-33. The Wildcats had four scorers in the game and Kylie Schwanke led the Cats with 11 points on the evening, Rylee Dieker finished with 9, Reece Lazier with 7, and Kierra Cain with 2 points. The Fr/So team was only down by 7 points a halftime, but the Cats had a tough second half and fell 26-47. Kylie Schwanke led the girls with 6 points in the game.

The varsity girls are sitting at 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in AVCTL D3 league play. The JV girls are sitting at 4-2 on the year and the Fr/So team are at 2-2. The Wildcats will be back in action at home against Augusta on Friday, January 5th.
