The Wildcats celebrated senior night last week as they closed out the regular season.

The Mulvane women's basketball team closed out their regular season this past week with games against Buhler and McPherson. The Cats hosted Buhler on Tuesday and the Wildcats had another close game with the Crusaders, but the Cats came out on top 41-35. Teagan Garrison led the girls with 13 points on the evening and Ashley Young finished with 10 points and led the Cats on the boards with 13 rebounds for a double-double.

The JV team had a close game with Buhler but fell just short 41-50. Kierra Cain led the girls with 12 points in the game and Kylie Schwanke finished with 10 points for the Wildcats. The Fr/So girls were in the lead going into the fourth quarter, but Buhler was able to outscore the Cats by 13 and take the win with a final score of 29-39. Kinley Kendrick and Jaryn Baker led the Cats with 6 points each in the contest.

The Wildcats celebrated Senior Night after the game as they recognized the senior players Ashlyn Alumbaugh, Teagan Garrison, Madison Phipps, Madison Shaw, and Ashley Young.

The Cats made the long trip to McPherson on Thursday for their final regular season game against the very tough Bullpups. The Wildcats were competitive in the first quarter, but a tough second quarter had the Cats down 19-34 at halftime. The Cats fell with a final score of 37-56. Teagan Garrison led the Wildcats with 18 points on the evening and Ashley Young led the Cats on the boards with 8 rebounds.

The JV had trouble breaking through the McPherson defense all evening as they fell 17-51. Reece Lazier led the girls with 8 points in the game. There was no Fr/So game against McPherson.

The varsity girls finished the regular season with a 10-10 record and 5-5 in AVCTL D3 league play. The JV girls finished their season with a 7-10 record, and the Fr/So girls finished their season with an 3-9 record.

The varsity girls will travel to Clay Center for game 1 of the sub-state tournament on Tuesday, February 27th at 6:00 PM.
