The Mulvane girls basketball team hosted the Buhler Crusaders in a non-league matchup, swept in 3 games.

The Mulvane girls basketball hosted the Buhler Crusaders in a non-league matchup on Friday, February 7th at Mulvane High School. The Cats struggled against the Crusader defense all evening as the Crusaders swept the Wildcats in all three games. The varsity girls lost 28-47, JV girls lost 28-38, and the C-Team lost 20-46.

The Cats got down early to the Crusaders in the 1st quarter with the Cats down 9-20, but the 2nd quarter was much more even as the Cats won that quarter 7-6, but the Wildcats went into halftime down 16-26 score. The girls had trouble breaking through the Crusader defense in the second half as well as they were outscored 12-21 with a final score of 28-47.

Freshman Jadyn Stevenson led the Wildcats with 6 points while junior Kaitlyn Klein dropped in 5 points. Freshman Karlie Kanaga and Haley Shaw both finished with 4 points each. Junior Campbell Williams scored 3 points on the evening. Senior Carson White and sophomores Amber Hansen and Kamryn Nolan all finished with 2 points each. White and Shaw lead the Cats on the boards with 4 rebounds each.

The JV girls could only muster up 8 points in the first half to the Crusaders 24 points. The second half was much closer but the Cats couldn't quite make up the difference and fell to Buhler 28-38. Kamryn Nolan led the JV team with 9 points and Haley Shaw dropped in 8 points on the evening. Junior Caylee Davis finished with 6 points, Karlie Kanaga and Jadyn Stevenson both finished with 2 points, and freshman Emma Kendrick finished with 1 point.

The C-team girls had a fairly close first quarter but found themselves down 8-12. A tough 4-13 second quarter had the Wildcats down 12-25 at halftime. The Wildcats only scored 8 points in the second half and they fell 20-46 to the Crusaders. Emma Kendrick had a great game and led the Cats with 12 points. Sophomore Gabby Bauerle dropped in 4 points and junior Ashley Hively and sophomore Bennett Cottrell both finished with 2 points each.

The Wildcats will host the Andale Indians tomorrow in a league matchup at Mulvane High School.
