The 41st annual Wildcat Classic was held last week at the Mulvane High School with 6 teams participating in the girl's basketball tournament. The teams were Winfield, Wichita North, Mulvane, Wichita Collegiate, Ark City, and Conway Springs.
The Ladycat's first game was last Monday, January 25th against the Ark City Bulldogs. The Cats wasted no time as they shot out to a 19-6 lead in the first quarter and a 38-14 lead at halftime. The girls coasted to the 62-26 win and Kamryn Nolan (Jr.) led the Ladycats with a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Karlie Kanaga (So.) also broke into double digits with 14 points.

The Ladycats second game of the tournament was against the Winfield Vikings last Tuesday, January 26th. The Cats and the Vikings were essentially tied up for the first three quarters as the score was 42-42 going into the 4th quarter. The Wildcats lost some steam in the 4th as they could only drop in 3 points and fell 45-58 to the Vikings. Teagan Garrison (Fr.) led the Ladycats with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Kamryn Nolan (Jr.) also finished in double digits with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Mulvane would face Wichita North in the battle for 3rd place on Saturday, January 30th. The Ladycats started the game strongly and went into halftime up 21-20. The girls once again found themselves in a close battle after 3 quarters but North was able to shut down the Ladycats in the 4th quarter and the girls fell 33-41. Teagan Garrison (Jr.) led the Cats with 9 points and 4 rebounds. Amber Hansen (Jr.) finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds.

Tournament notes: The Winfield Vikings and the Wichita Collegiate Spartans faced off for first place and the Vikings won the tournament with a 39-31 win over Collegiate. Mulvane's Teagan Garrison was selected to the Wildcat Classic All-Tournament team. She finished the tournament with 32 points, 18 rebounds, and 10 assists.
