The MMS girls basketball played 16 games in the last week before Thanksgiving break.

It was a very busy week for the MMS girls basketball teams as they played Rose Hill last Thursday, then had the mid-season shootout on Saturday, then hosted Prairie Hills on Monday before the Thanksgiving break. The 8th-grade girls won both their games against Prairie Hills in fine fashion as the 8A team won 33-15 and the 8B team won 20-13. The 8A girls were tied at halftime 10-10 but broke the game open in the 4th quarter by outscoring the Crusaders 18-3 for the 33-15 win. Kylie Schwanke led the girls with 11 points on the evening.

The 8B girls had a slight 10-9 lead at halftime, but a strong defensive 3rd quarter had the Cats up by 6 going into the 4th and the girls held on for the 20-13 win. Ellie Willig led the Wildcats with 7 points on the evening.

The 7A girls, missing their leading scorer Rhyan Parsons due to an ankle injury, had trouble breaking through the Crusader's defense and fell 2-42. Carlee Cole led the Wildcats with 2 points on the evening.

The 7B girls had trouble getting points to fall against Prairie Hills as they fell 8-40. Chloe Davis and Sophie Bruce led the Cats with 4 points each on the evening.

MID-SEASON SHOOTOUT
The 8th-grade girls traveled to Clearwater on Saturday, November 20th for the mid-season shootout. The 8A girls took care of business in both of their games, winning a close matchup against El Dorado 27-25 and taking care of Haysville 30-14. Versus El Dorado, the girls took the lead during the first half, going into halftime up 15-8. El Dorado outscored the Cats in the second half, but the Wildcats were able to come out with the win with a final score of 27-25. Teagan Heersche led the Cats with 10 points in the game.

The 8A team had no trouble against Haysville as they jumped out ahead in the first half with a 16-4 lead. The Cats outscored Haysville in the second half 14-10 and finished with the 30-14 win. Grace Carpenter led the Wildcats with 8 points in the game.

The 8B girls took care of business against El Dorado as they went into halftime up 17-8 and a strong 10-0 third quarter propelled them to the 33-14 win. Ellie Willig led the Wildcats with 13 points in the game.

It was a hard-fought game between both teams as the 8B girls faced Haysville and the Cats fell 22-25. The Cats jumped out ahead in the first half with a 11-9 lead at halftime. The girls were outscored in the second half 11-16 and fell 22-25. Gracyn Crow led the Wildcats with 7 points in the contest.

The 7th-grade girls traveled to Haysville for their mid-season tournament and the 7A girls got their first win of the season behind Rhyan Parsons 15-point game against El Dorado. The girls went into halftime up 10-4 and held El Dorado at bay in the second half and won 27-11. Parsons finished with 15 points and Thai Heersche dropped in 7 points, and Carlee Cole finished with 5 points.

The Wildcats were a little short-handed in the second game as Parsons sprained her ankle early in the game versus Haysville and the Cats had trouble finding the net as the Cats lost 8-30. Breann Noell led the girls with 4 points in the game.

The MMS girls traveled to Rose Hill last Thursday, November 18th for a league matchup against the Rockets. The girls went 1-3 on the evening as the 8B team grabbed a win 25-15. The 8A team fell 20-28 and the 7A girls fell 16-31 and the 7B team fell 10-16.

The 8A girls are currently sitting at 6-3 and 3-3 in league play, the 8B girls are sitting at 4-5 (3-3), 7A girls are sitting at 1-8 (0-6), and the 8B girls are sitting at 1-8 (1-5) on the season. The Cats will be back on the court next Tuesday, November 30th as they travel to Haysville West and then will be back home for the next three matchups against Wellington, Clearwater, and Rose Hill to close out the regular season.
