The Mulvane baseball team opened their season with early games, split with Derby and Cheney.

The Mulvane High School baseball team opened up their 2024 season with a couple of early games as part of a big tournament hosted in Maize. The Wildcats picked up two early games against Derby and Cheney, a 6A school and a 3A school. The Wildcats faced Derby in the first game on Friday and the Cats got off to a hot start, scoring in the first and second innings. Derby tied up the game 3-3 in the 4th inning and took the lead in the 5th. The Cats were unable to get the tying run and fell 3-4 to the Panthers.

Parker Clubb got the start for Mulvane on the mound. He tossed 3 and 2/3 innings, giving up 3 runs, 3 hits, walking 4, and 4 strikeouts. Grey Sanders also pitched for Mulvane. He threw 3 and 1/3 innings, giving up 1 run, 2 hits, walking 4, and 4 strikeouts.

The Cats as a team had 4 hits in the game. Nolan Fevurly went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Wildcats in hits. Brayden Tatum, and Grey Sanders also had hits in the game for Mulvane. Parker Clubb knocked in 1 runner to lead the Wildcats in RBIs.

The Wildcats faced the Cheney Cardinals in game 2 of the day and the Wildcats wasted no time and scored 3 runs in the first inning. The Cats scored 3 more in the 3rd and kept up the pressure the rest of the game, finishing with a 16-0 win.

Nolan Fevurly earned the win for Mulvane. He tossed 4 innings, giving up 0 runs, 0 hits, walking 2, and 10 strikeouts. Manny Myers also pitched for Mulvane. He tossed 3 innings, giving up 0 runs, 0 hits, walking 0, and 7 strikeouts. Fevurly and Myers combined for a no-hitter against the Cardinals.

The Mulvane Wildcats as a team grabbed 13 hits in the game. Nolan Fevurly went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Mulvane in hits.  Reed Hackleman, Parker Clubb, Lucas Sorensen, Grady Myers, Garrett Olson, Brady Nelson, and Grey Sanders each had hits in the game for Mulvane.

The Wildcats collected 14 RBIs in the game and Parker Clubb and Nolan Fevurly both had 3 RBIs to lead the team. Reed Hackleman, Grady Myers, Lucas Sorensen, Brady Nelson, and Grey Sanders also had RBIs for Mulvane.

The Mulvane Wildcats stole 8 bases during the game with Lucas Sorensen, Garrett Olson, Brady Nelson, Gavin Wayman, and Brayden Tatum all grabbing stolen bases.
